We think you'll like the ease of online registration. In fact, once you get the hang of it, you'll probably wish it had happened sooner!
We'll assist you in any way we can, because we want registration to be as simple and painless as possible. One of the great advantages of Web registration is that you can access the system via the World Wide Web at any time and any place. The campus provides computers to register in the Student Services Center lobby (AC-126) and the Financial Aid Office AC-103.
Instructions for Web Registration
Prior to registration, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Determine what courses you are interested in taking. We encourage all students to meet with a counselor before registering.
- Check your holds. Information about any holds that may have been placed on your registration is available online (which you may access at your convenience). All holds must be removed before you register on the Web.
- Complete the Admissions Form for New Students and Update Form for Returning and Continuing Students.
- Check Priority Registration Date.
Priority registration is assigned to students based on the completion of the matriculation components: assessment, orientation, Student Educational Plan, and credits completed. The priority registration date assigned to you may be viewed by accessing your secured account at
www.portervillecollege.edu.
How to Access PC Online
To register via the Web, you will need to access the Porterville College Web Page. Just follow these simple steps:
- Access the PC Web Page at www.portervillecollege.edu.
- Click on the Web Registration Link (My BanWeb).
- If you have not completed an application or updated your record as a continuing student, click the Admission/Update Button and complete the process. Please allow 24 hours to process your Admissions Application and Update form when using the web. Generally applications submitted during the weekend will be processed the next working day. If there are any error messages preventing you from completing the application or update process, contact the Office of Admissions and Records or call 559-791-2220.
- Click the "user Login Button".
- Enter your Social Security number and PIN.
- At the "Main Menu", click the "Student Services and Financial Aid" menu.
- Click on "Student Records".
Using the Online Application
To protect the private nature of your academic information, you must provide your ID number (Social Security Number) and a PIN (Personal Identification Number). Your PIN does not appear on the screen in order to keep it secret.
The first time you login, your PIN defaults to your birth date in MMDDYY format. (Example: February 4, 1981 would be 020481.) Once you have logged in successfully, you can change your PIN to protect your privacy. At the "Main Menu" click "Personal Information" menu, then click "Change PIN." Be sure you make a record of your new PIN.
If you use your browser?s ?Back? button, you may be required to login again. Avoid this inconvenience by using the ?Main Menu? button or the specific menu or page link at the bottom of each page.
Registration Menu
Select Term: Choose the correct term for the information you want.
Register/Add/Drop Classes: This allows you to register and make changes to your schedule. If you know the course reference number (CRN) for a course, you can enter it here for registration.
Class Search: This permits you to look up classes, by Subject, Time of Day, Day of the Week, College (all sites) and Part of Term (specific site location). If you only want to take courses at a single location, use the Part of Term search to identify the location for the search. For quicker response on the search, limit the breadth of the search, e.g., if you want information on English classes, use the subject search. If you search on all classes, this will be a slow process because of the size of the file.
Schedule/Bills: This permits you to view the charges placed on your account as a result of the current registration activity. It also provides information for paying your fees by credit card. Please print the schedule/bill for your records. You will not receive a schedule/bill by mail.
View Schedule by Day & Time: This will permit you to view your class schedule in a more graphical format.
View Detail Schedule: This will permit you to look up and/or print your class schedule. It will show all of the details for each class.
Check Your Registration Status: This displays various items, which may affect your registration; such as, registration appointment time, holds, credits, major, etc.
Personal Information Menu
Change PIN: It is highly recommended that you change your PIN from the default (your birth date) to something more private.
Update E-mail Address: This permits you to change your e-mail address if you have one on file. You can also input a new e-mail address.
ID Number (Student ID Number)
The student ID number is a generated number that begins with the @ sign. The generated ID number must be used on all college forms and the web to protect your social security number.
Student Records Information Menu
View Holds: This will permit you to review any holds on your record.
Display Grades: This permits you to see your grades for a particular term.
Academic Transcript: This permits you to see your transcript online. It includes all your classes as well as credit and GPA information. There are some discrepancies for courses taken between 1987 and 1998; please check with the Office of Admissions and Records if you believe that any information is missing. Your name and Social Security Number will not print on this transcript.
Please note when requesting transcripts only, courses taken at this institution will be used. Courses taken from Bakersfield or Cerro Coso Colleges will require transcripts from those institutions.
View Account Summary (by term): This will permit you to view charges, payments and balances applied to your account for each term of enrollment.
View Account Summary (multiple terms): This will permit you to review charges and payment information for your account.
When you are Finished
Don't forget to logout of the PC Online Registration Process and exit from your browser. This is especially important when you are using a public computer because it is the only way to ensure your information will not be viewed by anyone using the computer after you.
Forgotten Pin Process: Effective January 12, 2002, a new log-in process was implemented in Banner Web. This process has been established to assist individuals in verifying and "remembering" their PIN.
User Log-in Window: A user log-in window will appear requiring a "password" to be identified. Please follow these instructions for creating a "user log-in password."
Includes a link for forgotten PIN processing "I have forgotten my PIN."
Forgotten PIN Window
a. Requests user to enter his ID and name.
b. Using this information retrieves and presents the PIN identification question to the user for him to answer.
c. If the question is answered correctly, returns control to the user log-in window with a message displaying the user?s PIN.
d. If the question is answered incorrectly, returns control to the user log-in window with a security error message.
e. After a specified number of wrong answers, currently set at three (cumulative), removes the user?s PIN identification question/answer.
f. If the user has no PIN identification question/answer, displays an error message. This condition may be caused by entering an incorrect user ID or name; by answering the PIN identification questions incorrectly too many times; or by never entering a PIN questions/answer at all. In the first case, the user can re-enter a correct user ID and name. In the last two cases, the user must get the PIN from the Office of Admissions and Records.
Maintain PIN Identification Questions/Answer
1. Presented to the user automatically after login if no PIN question/answer exists.
2. May also be accessed from the personal information menu.
