The Extended Opportunity Program & Services is designed for educationally and economically disadvantaged students. The program is funded by the State of California and local community college districts. EOPS is the result of Assembly Bill 164, passed by the California Legislature in 1969. The enactment of this statewide program enabled community colleges to reach out and insure success for students that otherwise would not be able to attend college or complete a college education.

The primary concern of the EOPS program at Porterville College is to provide encouragement to students with academic, social, and economic disadvantages and to facilitate their success while attending PC.

CARE is a service provided by EOPS to serve single parents on AFDC/TANF/CalWORKS with a child under the age of 14. Students must also meet EOPS eligibility requirements and provide income verification.
