Student Educational Plan (SEP)
What is an SEP?
An SEP is a term-by-term plan that you work out with your counselor that lists the courses you need to complete for your degree or certificate in a recommended sequence. The SEP can then be used as a guide as you register for subsequent semesters. Some programs, like veterans, financial aid, EOPS, etc., require that all their students complete an SEP.
Why should I even have an SEP completed?
An SEP can be used as a guide as you register for subsequent terms. If your SEP is complete, you may not need to see a counselor in subsequent terms because he/she had already developed a planned sequence of courses for you to enroll into.
Where do I go to complete an SEP?
Stop by the counseling center in AC-126 or call 791-2329 to make an appointment to see a counselor. SEPs are not completed during drop-in advising times, so you will need to make an appointment to see a counselor to have one developed.
Can I change the course sequence on my SEP?
Yes, an SEP is a plan, not a required set of courses. However, some programs such as Veteran's, financial aid, etc. will require you to see a counselor before making any changes to your SEP. For most students, however, you can make any change to your SEP as you feel necessary.
